Creating a Breastfeeding Plan
Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't mean it's easy. You and your baby are both learning, while you're also recovering from birth. A plan made during pregnancy means you won't be searching for help in the middle of a hard moment.
Write down your goals
What are your breastfeeding goals? Who are your go-to supporters?
Know your resources
Is your health care provider breastfeeding-friendly? Is there a lactation consultant on staff? Is there a local warmline, and when is it open?
Find extra support
Look for in-person or virtual support groups and organizations that offer home visits. Your peer supporter can help you find these.
Trust yourself
If something doesn't feel right, make a change. You know what's best for you, your baby, and your family.
