Kangaroo Care (Skin to Skin)
Skin-to-skin contact, also called kangaroo care, is often offered right after birth. If you didn't get to try it then, you can start at home anytime.
Benefits for your baby
Studies show skin-to-skin contact can help babies gain weight, cry less, and breathe and sleep better.
Benefits for you

It helps parents bond and feel more confident, and it can boost milk supply. Partners and other caregivers can do it too.
How to do it
Place your baby, in just a diaper (and a hat if they seem cold), on your bare chest with their head near your neck. Wrap a blanket around both of you like a kangaroo pouch.
Keep it calm
This is quiet time to rest and bond, not playtime. Try for an hour at a time, several times a week, in the first weeks.
If you start to feel sleepy, move your baby to their own safe sleep space on their back.
