Reading to Your Baby
It's never too early to read to your baby. Books help babies hear the sounds of language, use their senses, and connect good feelings with books and with you.
Choose the right books
Sturdy board books or soft cloth books with bright pictures of everyday things, people, and animals. Rhymes are great, and older babies love flaps and textures.
Chewing is okay

Your baby will want to grab, hold, and mouth the book. That's how they learn!
Keep it short and fun
Read a page or two at a time. Let your baby turn the pages. If they're fussy or not interested, try again later.
Talk about the pictures
Point and name things, make animal sounds, and ask "Where's the dog?" Then wait for your baby to respond.
