What to Expect When Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding may be natural, but the first few weeks can be really hard. You and your baby are both learning something brand new.
There's no one right way
You and your baby will figure out the latch and positions that work best for you.
Your body will adjust

Once you get into a rhythm, your baby's sucking tells your body to make more milk.
Soreness vs. pain
Your nipples may be tender at first, but breastfeeding shouldn't be painful. Pain is a sign to get help.
Help is available
A lactation consultant can make a big difference. Ask your provider for a referral, or ask your peer supporter to help you find one.
If you have questions or a lot of discomfort, talk with your health care provider.
