Interacting During Daily Routines

Everyday routines like diaper changes and feedings are great chances to talk, sing, and connect with your baby.

Sing during diaper changes

Songs can distract a fussy baby. Try favorites like "Twinkle, Twinkle" or "This Little Piggy," and pause before the ending to build excitement.

Use your face

Big expressions, like raised eyebrows, grab your baby's attention, even during a calm bedtime routine.

Have a conversation

When your baby coos, answer as if they're using real words: "Really? Tell me more!" Then pause and wait for them to "answer."

Keep feedings calm

Talking or singing softly during feedings is lovely. Keep it gentle so your baby can focus on eating.
