Knowing Your Own Birth Story
Do you know the story of your own birth? Asking your parents or others who were there is a lovely way to reflect on your past as you get ready for your own baby's birth.
What it can teach you
Hearing about your mother's joys, fears, and any complications can help you think about your own experience. Your birth doesn't have to be like hers, though, especially if there are things you'd do differently.
Questions to ask
What was the weather like the day I was born? How did you know you were in labor? What were you most nervous about? Who was with you? Did you get to hold me right away? What do you remember about how labor felt?
If you can't ask your parents
If you're not close with your parents or can't talk with them, ask other people you trust to share their birth stories. Most people love telling this story.
