Making Tummy Time More Fun
Tummy time helps prevent flat spots on your baby's head and builds the neck and shoulder muscles they'll need to roll, sit, and crawl. But many babies don't like it at first. Here's how to make it easier.
Start on your lap
Lay your baby tummy-down across your lap for extra support and cuddles.
Add support on the floor
Place a rolled towel or nursing pillow under their chest with arms forward. A gentle hand on their bottom can help them lift their head.
Be face to face
Get down on the floor with your baby. You're their favorite thing to look at! A mirror or colorful toys work too.
Time it right
Try when your baby is awake, fed, and happy, not sleepy or hungry.
Always stay with your baby during tummy time. If they fall asleep, move them onto their back in a safe sleep space.
